Christmas Card...
I did not get around to doing our family pics this year for our Christmas card so I took some of the kids before church. Not super professional looking, but still cute. Merry Christmas!
Piano Recital 2011
Cassidy and Corbin had their piano recital December 17th. They did such a great job. Gabrielle Cox is their piano teacher and the kids love her! She does a great job! It is so fun to see how much the kids have improved since their last recital.
Way to go kids!! Keep it up!

Cate's Newborn Pics
I love these pictures! Cate would not give up and go to sleep till right before we finished, but she was so good.
Twins 2 year old Pics...
The twins turned 2 on December 22 so I thought I would do their pics with Cate's newborn pics. They were not happy campers! They hardly smiled. They didn't want to sit were they were told to sit. I guess I can say we are officially in the "terrible two" age! Yikes!
Thank goodness for McKenzie who is the most amazing photographer. She somehow managed to get some cute pics even though they were not cooperating.

Bili Lights at Home...
We were able to add home bili lights to our list of new experiences. Surprisingly, they were not as bad as I thought they would be. It was more of a pain taking Cate back and forth to the hospital to get her Bilirubin level checked. Cate didn't mind the lights and slept pretty well while she had to be on them.
We had gone in to the pediatrician for her check up on December 8th and found out her bili was high. By the time we found out the results and the bili lights were delivered it was 10pm! Oh well. We did the lights Thursday night, all of Friday and Saturday morning we went back to the Dr's for the bili to be checked again. It was good so the Dr said to turn the lights off and come back again Sunday morning to have the bili checked again. We did and it was still good. Hooray.

Delivery and Coming Home...
So the story of the birth goes something like this. I had been wanting this baby to come for a few weeks and was really hoping she would come the day after Thanksgiving. I have been working every Saturday and Sunday and did not want to work anymore, I was 37 weeks at that point. Of course it never works out the way you want it to. I did work that weekend!
I came to terms that I would make it to the scheduled c-section date of December 9th and had geared myself up for one more weekend of work. Of course since I was planning on working and finishing getting ready for this princess to make her entrance that is when she decided she would arrive!
Saturday, December 3rd I woke up at 4am thinking that I had either just had an tiny accident or my water had broke.. (I never have had the huge gushes that you hear about.) Anyways, I waited a 1/2 hour and decided it was official, my water had really broke but there were no contractions, yet. I woke Cameron up and told him. He was ready to run out the door. I told him I would call my mom at 5am and I wanted to shower and get ready, etc. Plus the house needed a quick once over (at least).
So I called my mom and told her to go ahead and get ready, there was no hurry, I felt fine. She got to my house at 7am and by that point things were getting uncomfortable. The contractions had started and they were getting a little intense. But the house was relatively clean and everyone was ready for the day. Plus, Cameron had given me a blessing while we were waiting.
We arrived at the hospital about 7:30 am. When they hooked me up to the monitor the baby looked great but the contractions were one after another. After a bag of IV fluid, they started to slow down. They told me Dr. Bierer would be here to do a 10:00 c-section. I called work and told them that I was for sure staying to have the baby and that I would not be working this weekend. Sounded good to me, the contractions weren't so bad anymore so we just relaxed and waited for the time to pass. Baby still looked good.
At 10 we went back to the OR for the big arrival. I was so curious about what this little munchkin would look like. The twins look so different from the older 3 kids, who would she look like? Brown or blue eyes? A ton of hair? No hair? Fair or olive skin? I felt like she was going to be huge, friends and family kept guessing she would be just an average size baby, 7 lbs or so. We were going to find out very soon.
My epidural was super uncomfortable to get this time but at least he didn't hit any nerves! I hate when that happens. I got my epidural and told him I was going to pass out, they gave me some blood pressure medicine and a little oxygen and that went away. (I've done this before.) So of course I'm feeling a little out of it and trying not to think about all of it when Dr. Bierer causually says after he had started, "Oh, she's trying to come out on her own." I didn't think anything of it, it was not clicking for me. Caitlyn arrived blue and screaming. I love that sound! It gets me crying everytime. My prayers were answered and we had a healthy 8lb 4 oz baby that was coming with me to post partum! NO NICU!! I love to work there, but I sure hate having a baby(s) in there.
After Cate was out Dr. Bierer casually said, "Good thing you decided to be done, your uterus is done having babies." I was told that it had pretty much fallen apart after Cate came out. Cameron and I had decided I would get a tubal ligation. I knew I was done having kids. Five kids is all I thought I could handle, let alone six kids! But I kept wondering as the delivery day got closer if it was really the right thing for me to be doing. Yes, it was. Another answer to prayer that calmed my mind and heart.
When I got to recovery, my labor and delivery nurse asked if I realized what had happened in the OR. Nope I sure did not. She told me that I had ruptured in the OR or sometime right before. When Dr. Bierer had made his incision there was a hole in my uterus about 3 inches x 1 inch. Hence the comment of her coming out on her own. Cate had never shown any signs of distress and my bleeding was not to bad. Another blessing. Cameron made the mistake of asking what it meant to rupture and my nurse did not sugar coat it for him at all. "It means the baby could have died and your wife could have died. They both could have bled out!" That threw Cameron through a loop. He was pretty emotional the next couple of days. Luckily everything was totally fine.
Caitlyn was a bit of a challenge to nurse. I had that crappy shoulder pain for the next day or so and my pain was worse then I had ever had. But really how can I complain about anything when the possibility of disaster had been so close. How blessed our family is! We sure love this little princess and the wonderful addition she is to our family!

Checking out the baby! The Women and Childrens floor was closed to kids 14 and under so the kids had not been able to see her since she was born except in pics. They were excited and the twins did great with her.
I came home December 6th. The kids were exstatic. Conner had been worried and asking me through the last part of the pregnancy if I would be coming home or if I would be staying in the hospital for a long time. I kept reassuring him I would only be there 3-4 days. I said this with my fingers crossed and a prayer in my heart that would be true. The twin pregnancy obviously left a mark for the poor kid. It had been 3 days and the baby and I was home! The first thing Caylee said after we walked in was "who's that?" Cameron and I both heard it! We had to laugh. The twins do not talk very much. We were actually in the process of getting them into speech therapy. She can obviously say more then she is letting on. The first couple of days home were a little rough but Cameron had taken them off to be home and help. The kids were all good to help out and the twins were content to sit and just hang out with me and Cate. After that it was back to normal?.?. Cameron went back to work and my mom helped out with the twins and brought us lunch the next couple of days. I was expecting the twins to have a complete melt down having a new baby in the house, but they have done amazingly well. They are happy to play and do their own thing. If Cate crys they will come try and give her a binkie or cover her with a blanket. They also love to help burp her. They are doing great!
My wonderful neighbors all took turns taking the twins for a couple of hours the next week also. It was heavenly to just be able to sit and hold the baby and not have to chase after them. She is my last baby and I am going to enjoy every last minute of it.
